A 12-Week Depression Study

DEPRESSED?

Did you know that you may be suffering from depression if two or more of the following apply?

* Problems with Appetite (too much or too little)
* Trouble Sleeping
* No Motivation
* Poor Self Image
* Difficulty Concentrating
* Feeling Downhearted and Blue

Dr. Andrew Winokur at the UConn Health Center is offering screenings for participation in a clinical research study with an experimental study drug for those experiencing symptoms of depression. The study drug has been FDA approved for other conditions. The goal of this study is to see if the drug can help with symptoms of depression as well. Participants will receive a study-related psychiatric evaluation and study drug or a placebo (inactive substance) at no cost. To participate, you must be between the ages of 18-65.

Eligibility:
1. Men and Women age 18-65 who are currently struggling with symptoms of depression.

2. Able to speak and read in English.

3. Able to atend approximately 9 visits to our clinic in Farmington over a 12 week period of time.

4. Women can not be pregnant or breastfeeding at any point during the study.

5. Women who are able to become pregnant must be willing to use birth control to avoid becomming pregnant while in the study.

Payment:
Study medication and treatment is provided free of charge.
